Stephanie had been staying up late since it’s summer. On this evening Mom and Dad wanted to retire at a reasonable hour since they were both recovering from colds. Stephanie was up watching TV and ignoring their requests to go to bed. She finally shut off the TV only to pick up a catalog (JC Penny, Back-To-School) and started flipping through it. Dad realized it could be hours before she was done. He walked over to her, got down on her level, put his hand on her back and made loving eye contact. “What? What do you want?”, she asked. She kept flipping through the catalog. Dad reported that it took about 25 seconds and she looked up again and said, “What?” Dad replied, quietly, kindly and firmly, “Bed.” “Oh, all right!” and Stephanie went to bed. Absolutely fabulous job at using loving guidance, Dad!!!
